Coral plant is a single-trunked small tree or shrub. It is native to Mexico and Central America. It is a shrub or a small tree with a single trunk, a loose spreading crown, and a typical height in the cultivation of 1.8–3 m. The red inflorescence is in great demand by florists as it makes beautiful red corsages. The plant also exhibits phytochemical, antimicrobial and insecticidal properties.

Tips for growing:
The plant requires moderately fertile soil with excellent drainage. It has some drought tolerance once established but performs best with regular watering in a full sun situation. In cool zones, plant the specimen in a large container with a gritty houseplant soil. In-ground plants can tolerate rocky or sandy soil.
